Ko Taokahu te ingoa o te roto mahana i te pūtahi o te tiriti o Ranolf me te rori o Lake, ka mutu, i mua he roto makariri kē.

He whare taupua te tupuna mana nui, tō Tūnohopū i reira i a ia e kaukau ana i te roto rā.  I tere hau te rongo o Taokahu hei kaumanga mō ngā rangatira me ō rātau whānau.

He mokopuna a Tūtea nā Tūmahaurangi.  Nā Tūtea ko Tamahika, ā, ko ia hoki tētehi rangatira o te wāhi rā.  Ka moe a Tamahika i tana wahine ātaahua, i a Kuiarau. Heoi anō, i a Kuiarau e kaukau ana i Taokahu, ka mau ia i tētehi taniwha i te wai, ka heke hōhonu, ā, ka mate.
